From Temporal sequences to Network representations. In panel a we have a set of trajectories between the location A, B, C and D. Given these trajectories, we can extract several networks. The simplest network representation is illustrated in panel b, where nodes represent locations and links correspond to the observed moves between these locations. In panel c, the same trajectories are encoded in a second order network where each node is an observed sequence of two locations
