The figure illustrates the iterative scheme. First, the node with the highest centrality \(j_2\) is disconnected by removing all its links, as it is the node with the highest number of shortest paths. The resulting network has \(j_1\) and \(j_3\) with equal centralities and either one can be disconnected. This leads to a total loss of connectivity in the network at the end of the process
